HAPPY 2025! January 10 2025, 0 Comments

A delicious Cosmopolitan cocktail and a visit to A&E - are these things connected? I hope not. But I had both on Hogmanay - one a few hours later than the other. In my defence, I did come up against someone who had evidently had much more than one cocktail, and this merry early evening reveler blithely went on their way, while we took a taxi to the Royal Infirmary.

I've decided that breaking my arm is just so last year, a fitting end perhaps to what had been a strange year with some incredible highs and some dreadful lows - goodbye 2024. I'm looking forward to 2025, even though the writing may be somewhat slower for a while.

After Just One Weekend was completed, I had two competing stories in my brain for a while. I would start one, and find the main character of the other would fill my head with their story, pulling me in a different direction. I hopped between the two, trying to please both voices but that only brought angst and a desperate attempt at combining the stories - that didn't work either.  But crashing down to earth on Hogmanay brought clarity. For some reason one of the voices stopped, booted out somewhere outside Toppings (appropriately) and it now sits relatively quietly amongst the other ideas that constantly percolate in my imagination.

I'm now very clear about the direction I'm going in, whose story I'm going to tell. Can't say anything just yet, but will reveal more soon.

Oh, and how exciting is this? - producers are interested in adapting Just One Weekend for cinema. Need to write a treatment though, and then a screenplay. And, if that's not enough,  I'm also co-writing a book with a fellow author. So I'd better get a move on with the one hand that's capable of typing.  Although I'm also investigating dictation to text - watch this space.

Thanks for visiting the site, and reading my books - I appreciate the emails and messages I get about them from readers more than I could ever say, it really helps me keep going when imposter syndrome sets in. Thank you. Wishing you all a happy, healthy and peaceful 2025 from a woman of a certain age who loves writing universal stories about middle-aged women in all their wonderfulness!
